Sonakshi Sinha movie in trouble, filmmaker sends legal notice to T-Series

Journalist-turned-filmmaker Amitabh Parashar has taken legal action against T-Series, alleging that the production house plagiarized his script idea for their upcoming film, “Khandaani Shafakhana,” featuring Sonakshi Sinha and Anu Kapoor in key roles. Parashar, in a legal notice sent through his advocate, claims that he pitched the concept of a film centered around street-side sex shops to T-Series last year and sent them a soft copy of his script, receiving acknowledgment in return.

Bhushan Kumar, head of T-Series, has refuted these accusations, stating, “It’s totally false, as the film we are making is entirely different. There is no similarity at all. I don’t know how and why he is claiming that without knowing our film.”

Parashar, who won a National Film Award for his documentary “The Eyes of Darkness,” asserts that he conceptualized a comedy film titled “Bhag Mohabbat,” exploring the world of street sex doctors. This idea stemmed from his extensive four-year research and the production of a documentary, “Death of a Sex Doctor.” He claims to have registered the script with the Screen Writer’s Association in Mumbai.

According to Parashar, he met with T-Series’ Mukesh Desai to discuss the feature film and was subsequently directed to Anjali Bhushan of the same company. He shared a brief narration of the story with Bhushan, expressing his hope to direct the film. Parashar alleges that he even discussed potential cast members, suggesting Anu Kapoor and Ayushmann Khuranna.

Parashar sent a soft copy of his script to T-Series in March 2018, receiving an acknowledgment and assurance that they were considering his script. However, in January of the following year, he claims to have read in a newspaper that T-Series had greenlit a film with striking similarities to his script, albeit with a changed title from “Bhag Mohabbat” to “Khandaani Shafakhana.”

Feeling that he can no longer proceed with his story due to the T-Series film, Parashar is seeking damages of Rs 5 crore from the production banner.
